The recognized portal highlights that markets are a good choice to let tourists know the culture of the place, as well as being an attractive experience given the wide variety of scents and colors that they offer. This is the second time that it receives a mention of an international mean of communication.

Daily Meal points out that the Vega Central de Santiago is a hidden gem, where it is possible to find a wide variety of fruits, vegetables and meat, and that is a good reflection of the culture of the country. The site also mentions that there,   it is possible to try sopaipillas, natural juices and eat casseroles or tamales in their different cookeries. Other markets mentioned in this ranking are La Boqueria of Spain and England’s Borough Market.

For Andrea Wolleter, general manager of Turismo Chile, “this type of recognition is very important since they give visibility to Chile in international markets and put in value the typical places of the country,” said, on behalf of the institution responsible for the international promotion of Chile as a tourist destination.

The secretary of tourism, Daniel Brown, said that “this type of mentions are a clear contribution to the tourist promotion of Chile abroad. They include both the local gastronomy and the Chilean popular culture. This corner of Santiago brings the humor and irony that we are promoting in our campaign where markets are defined as priorities for promotional actions abroad”.
